Gojkovic takes over as head of Vojvodina provincial gov't
NOVI SAD - The newly-elected head of the government of Serbia's Vojvodina province, Maja Gojkovic, took over from her predecessor Igor Mirovic in Novi Sad on Thursday.
After being elected by the provincial assembly on Wednesday, Gojkovic said her cabinet would continue to carry out development projects and that there were plans for new capital investments.
Vucevic: Gojkovic PM designate for Vojvodina province
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Designate Milos Vucevic, who will present his programme to MPs on Wednesday, announced Maja Gojkovic had been given the mandate to form the new government of Serbia's Vojvodina province.
Vucevic was speaking to reporters after a session of the presidency of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
Vojvodina provincial assembly gets new speaker
NOVI SAD - The assembly of Serbia's Vojvodina province on Thursday elected Balint Juhas of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) as its new speaker.
Eighty-one of 120 assembly members in attendance voted in favour of Juhas, 28 voted against and six took no part in the vote.

Vojvodina provincial assembly constituted
NOVI SAD - The new assembly of Serbia's Vojvodina province was constituted on Friday after the mandates of all its 120 members were approved.
The constitutive session was chaired by the oldest member of the assembly, Miroslav Spanovic.

Belgrade region biggest contributor to Serbia's GDP in 2022
BELGRADE - In 2022, the Belgrade region was the biggest contributor to Serbia's GDP with a 40 pct share and the northern Vojvodina province followed with 26.4 pct.
According to preliminary figures released by the national statistical office, the Sumadija and Western Serbia region is in third place with 18.4 pct and the Southern and Eastern Serbia region follows with 15.2 pct.
Vojvodina assembly dissolved, provincial elections called for December 17
NOVI SAD - The speaker of the assembly of Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina, Momo Colakovic, on Thursday dissolved the legislature and called early provincial elections for December 17.
Ninety-five of 120 assembly members voted in favour of the decision, four voted against and five did not take part in the vote.

Vilenica Prize goes to Otto Tolnai
The 2023 Vilenica Prize for Central European literature will go to Otto Tolnai, a Hungarian author from the Serbian province of Vojvodina. He will accept the award at the Vilenica international literary festival in September.
A poet, writer, playwright, essayist and translator, Tolnai is considered one of the most important contemporary Hungarian authors.

Security situation stable despite challenges, threats - bureau
BELGRADE - The Serbian Bureau for Coordination of Security Services concluded on Monday the security situation in the country was stable despite numerous challenges and threats to national security and that all security services were working actively to eliminate any security risk to peace and stability in the country and the region and to Serbian citizens.
