Several quakes shake country over two days
After the earthquakes in the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat and the northern province of Tokat on April 18, the country has been shaken by a 4.5-magnitude earthquake in the western province of İzmir and aftershocks in Tokat, including a 5.6-magnitude tremor.

Some 800 Turkish nationals brought back amid pandemic
More than 800 Turkish nationals were repatriated on May 8 from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of
an initiative by Ankara amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A specially arranged Turkish Airlines flight with 195 Turks from the UAE landed in the Black Sea province of Samsun.
Separately, 280 Turks were evacuated from Kuwait and landed in Sivas province.
800-year-old Quran on display in Turkey’s north
The manuscripts of an 800-year-old Quran are currently on display at the Tokat Museum in northern Turkey.

Movie to be shot in 'Dracula's castle' in Turkey
A movie is due to be shot at Tokat Castle, Turkey?s second-largest castle in the northern province of Tokat, where it is claimed that Wallachian Prince Vlad III ?The Impaler,? also known as Dracula, was held captive in one of the the castle?s dungeons in the early 15th century.

Probe opened against 56 people who protested hydroelectric plants in Black Sea town
A public prosecutor has opened an investigation against 56 villagers in the Black Sea town of Zile who protested against three hydroelectric power plant (HES) projects in their city.
On March 15, some 2,000 protesters marched against the HES projects planned on Çekerek River in the Zile district of Tokat province while security forces set up barricades and used tear gas against them.
Drones brought in to prevent use of guns in weddings in Black Sea district
A district administration in the Black Sea province of Tokat has decided to start using two multicopter drones to prevent the traditional firing of weapons during weddings.
Shooting guns or rifles in the air in celebration remains a tradition in some parts of Turkey, especially in rural areas. Many people are accidentally wounded or killed in these shootings.
