Mexico on June 24 began imposing a 50 percent tariff on white corn imports, a move the president says looks to boost national production and prevent imports of genetically modified corn.

As part of the "2023 Instruction and Training Cruise," the ARM Cuauhtémoc Sailing Tall Ship, also known as the Ambassador and Gentleman of the Seas, is planning a visit to the port of Istanbul, as the Mexican government selected Istanbul as the location of the celebrations and events marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The Mexican government on Sunday again stressed its position that it will not pay for President Donald Trump's proposed border wall, CNN reported.

 Trump tweeted Sunday morning: "With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other."

The House of Representatives approved a USD 68 billion increase in military spending for the 2018 fiscal year, USD 1.6 billion of which will be used to pay for President Donald Trump's border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, Reuters reports.

Negotiations on reworking North America's landmark free trade pact will begin next month in Washington, U.S. officials announced on July 19.
