Israel–Hamas war protests in the United States

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has condemned Western nations and their universities for their treatment of pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

"They taught us democracy for years, but we all saw how those who make these judgments behaved on the Gaza issue," Erdoğan said during an event in the capital Ankara on Oct. 8.

Following pro-Palestinian protests that spread from U.S. universities this spring to campuses worldwide, U.S. schools are tightening security ahead of the start of fall classes, including a ban on protest camps.

A police operation was under way on Tuesday morning to evict dozens of protesters from the main building of the Athens University School of Law in the city center.

As later reported by the show’s journalist, the Israeli representative arrived at the stage accompanied by 100 police officers due to protests against Israel taking place outside the venue

Demonstrators have gathered on at least 40 U.S. university campuses since April 17, often erecting tent camps to protest against the soaring death toll in the Gaza Strip.

Dozens of helmeted police flooded Columbia University's campus in the heart of New York City on Tuesday to evict a building occupied by pro-Palestinian student protesters and detain demonstrators.

Police climbed into Hamilton Hall via a second floor window they reached from a laddered truck, before leading handcuffed students out of the building into police vans.

Police detained nearly 200 people at the U.S. universities over the weekend as they cleared pro-Palestinian encampments, in the latest campus clashes triggered by protests over Israel's war against Hamas.
