Criminal Stefanakos found shot dead in car in western Attica

A body found in a car in Haidari, western Attica, on Wednesday afternoon, is that of criminal Vassilis Stefanakos, according to a police statement which said the corpse bore gunshot wounds, apparently inflicted by an assault rifle. 

He appears to have been sprayed with fire from a Kalashnikov, police sources indicated, noting that there were signs of more than 20 bullet wounds.  

DNA link to three suspects sought for Distomo raid

The fingerprints and DNA of three suspects being sought in connection with an audacious bank robbery in Distomo, in the prefecture of Viotia, in August have been found in an apartment in Nea Makri, northeast of Athens, which is believed to have been used as a hideout by the robbers, and on a speedboat the perpetrators used as part of their getaway, police said on Tuesday.

Police names suspects in 400,000-euro heist

The police on Thursday issued the names and photographs of three suspects it believes were involved in an armed bank robbery northwest of Athens last week that netted almost 400,000 euros in cash.

Police said they are looking for Spyros Dravilas, 33, Giorgos Petrakakos, 35, and Spyros Chrystodoulou, 44, over the raid at National Bank in the village of Paralia Distomou on Friday.
