Starting in 2029, heating with wood and coal will be entirely banned in Sofia. The regulation for this change was adopted two years ago, and the city began enforcing restrictions last winter, initially targeting polluting vehicles in the city center.

How is it most profitable to heat in the winter? The final price depends not only on the heating method, but also on the type of dwelling, additional investments such as the renovation of the building as well as the initial investment. In general, heating of solid fuels is cheapest and electricity is the most expensive.

More people in Bulgaria will start using solid fuel for heating due to the expected electricity price hike, according to the experts.

Wood and coal, however, are also expected to get a price increase of up to 20%, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) informs.
