New tramline to connect central Istanbul districts

The Istanbul Municipality council approved a project for a new tramline, which is envisioned to connect three districts of the city's Asian side.

Named "AnadoluTRAM" previously, the new tramline is designed to link the districts of Üsküdar, Kadıköy and Maltepe, with the proposal confirmed by majority of votes in the council held by the municipality on June 11.

Central Bank to move to Istanbul in Summer

The Turkish Central Bank will move its headquarters from Ankara to Istanbul this summer, according to an internal e-mail notice reported by the local media on Feb. 14. 

Last year, Central Bank Governor Şahap Kavcıoğlu told the media about plans to relocate the bank's units to the Istanbul Financial Center (IFC), which is still under construction, within 2022.

People swarm streets ahead of Turkey’s weekend curfew

People hit the streets for shopping and catching some sun ahead of a 48-hour curfew to be imposed in 31 provinces of Turkey and that will impact 64 million residents.

The Interior Ministry has declared that bakeries, pharmacies as well as private and public health care institutions will be open during the lockdown.

Regulations under scrutiny following deadly clash between school shuttle companies in Istanbul

The Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education has submitted a report to the Education Ministry asking for school shuttle regulations to be revised following a recent fatal clash between shuttles of separate companies in the premises of a primary school in Istanbul's Ümraniye district, daily Habertürk reported on Sept. 7.
