Mytilineos becomes EU’s largest bauxite producer

Imerys Bauxites' operations will merge with Mytilineos' wholly-owned subsidiary, Delphi Distomon, as part of the Metallurgy Sector's ongoing vertical integration. This move establishes the largest bauxite producer in Europe, significantly increasing the production capacity to 1.2 million tons annually - a European record and one of the largest globally.

Mytilineos acquires Imerys Bauxites

Mytilineos Energy & Metals on Tuesday announced the signing of an agreement with the French company Imerys for the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Imerys Bauxites Greece Single Member Societe Anonyme for 10 million euros. The agreement concerns all bauxite mining activities in the Fokida area, which will now be part of Mytilineos' metallurgy branch.

Pension fund Oyak buys Almatis from Dubai group

Turkey's largest private pension fund Oyak has agreed to buy German alumina products maker Almatis from Dubai International Capital (DIC), the company said in a statement on July 14.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

However, a person familiar with the deal said that DIC was able to achieve a price close to its expectations of around $1 billion.

Bentonite Plant in Bulgaria's Kardzhali Bought by France's Imerys

A French company, Paris-based Imerys, has bought the bentonite production plant in Bulgaria's Karzdhali.

The plant was previously owned by Greek S&B Industrial Minerals S.A., according to reports of the BGNES news agency.

Although the deal was concluded at the end of 2014, there was no official announcement on the part of the local authorities.
