In Islam, the position of muezzin, or the caller to prayer, was one of the earliest appointments and is attributed to the Prophet Muhammad himself. His choice was a former slave who was partially black but had a superb voice If you live in a Muslim country, you hear the muezzin sounding the call to prayer five times a day.
