Mothers of slain Gezi protesters launch one-day hunger strike for hunger-striking educators in Ankara

The mothers of two slain Gezi protesters have launched a one-day hunger strike as a show of support to two educators who have been on hunger strike for over 65 days. 

Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça went on a hunger strike on March 10 in Ankara, demanding to be returned to their jobs, which they lost with a state of emergency decree.

Interior ministry objects to compensation order for family of killed Gezi protester Ali İsmail Korkmaz

The Turkish Interior Ministry has applied to the Court of Appeals to not pay 709,000 Turkish Liras in compensation to the family of Ali İsmail Korkmaz, who was killed by police officers and civilians during the 2013 Gezi Park protests.

The Turkish Interior Ministry has been sentenced to pay a total of 707,180 Turkish Liras in compensation to the family of 19-year-old Gezi protester Ali İsmail Korkmaz, who was beaten to death by police officers and civilians in the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir in 2013. 

Turkish court approves verdicts against policemen for killing of Gezi protester Ali Ismail Korkmaz

The Turkish Supreme Court of Appeals has approved a verdict against two police officers who were found guilty of killing 19-year-old Gezi protester Ali İsmail Korkmaz. 

Officers Mevlüt Saldoğan and Yalçın Akbulut, who were both convicted to 10 years and 10 months in jail, will serve prison terms that were handed down by a Kayseri court after the case was re-evaluated.
