A 25-year-old Romanian national who has been implicated in the murder last month of acclaimed Greek novelist Menis Koumandareas, 83, was remanded in custody on Friday after denying murder charges leveled against him while a second suspect turned himself in to the authorities.

A Romanian man who is suspected of taking part in the December 5 murder of acclaimed Greek novelist Menis Koumandareas, 83, in his Athens home, has turned himself into the prosecutor investigating the case, according to reports on Friday.

Police investigating the murder last month of author Menis Koumandareas Wednesday made public the name and photograph of a second Romanian national implicated in the 83-year-old?s killing as additional details about the attack became known.

A 26-year-old Romanian man was arrested in Athens on Tuesday on suspicion of murdering author Menis Koumandareas at his home on December 6. Police are also searching for another Romanian man.

The acclaimed Greek writer Menis Koumandareas was found murdered in his home on Saturday morning in the central Athenian neighborhood of Kypseli.

The 83-year-old writer lived alone. His body was discovered by a nephew who became concerned for his well-being after being unable to contact his uncle.
