Felicity Party MP dies after collapsing during parliamentary speech

Hasan Bitmez, a deputy from the Felicity Party (SP), has passed away after collapsing during his speech in the Turkish parliament.

The 22-minute speech on Dec. 12's session, which concluded with the phrase "I greet you all with respect," took a tragic turn when Bitmez collapsed, hitting his head on a marble step behind the lectern.

Opposition HDP starts 'justice watch' in Istanbul under tight security

The opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has started its "conscience and justice watch" in Istanbul's Kadıköy district with the participation of several lawmakers. 

The Kurdish issue-focused HDP started its watch on Aug. 1 in Kadıköy's Yoğurtçu Park after spending a week in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. 

Main opposition CHP head says party 'wants a terror-free and democratic Turkey'

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) wants a "terror-free and democratic Turkey," its leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said during a visit to the Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), as part of his bid to consolidate opponents of the constitutional amendment passed in the April referendum.

A delegation of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) in the Turkish parliament is expected to meet Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ on April 3 to discuss the decision by jailed HDP co-chairman Selahattin Demirtaş to go on hunger strike, together with another MP, Abdullah Zeydan, in protest at prison conditions, HDP deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder said in an interview with Fox TV Turkey on March 31.
