Fresh push to fill doctor positions on remote islands

The Health Ministry has announced the hiring of 114 permanent doctors for public hospitals in remote and island regions, aiming to address chronic medical staff shortages. These positions, repeatedly unfilled due to a lack of interest, include critical roles such as pediatricians and anesthesiologists for underserved areas like Leros and Kos.

Rainy Christmas brings chill as temperatures drop

Heavy rainfall is expected in coastal areas across Greece, with thunderstorms in Sporades, central and northern Evia, and the Dodecanese. These conditions will also briefly affect the southern parts of the eastern Aegean (Samos-Ikaria region) until midday. Mosley’s cause of death ‘unascertainable,’ English coroner finds

The cause of the death of TV doctor Michael Mosley on the Greek island of Symi in June is "indeterminate" and "unascertainable," an English coroner has ruled.

The Buckinghamshire inquest heard Mosley's death "was most likely attributable either to heatstroke (accidental) or non-identified pathological cause."

Teen hospitalized in Rhodes after TikTok challenge

A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized with a serious head injury Friday after attempting a TikTok challenge during a school break at middle school on the island of Rhodes.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the boy fell and struck his head while performing the challenge with friends. He was rushed to Rhodes General Hospital by ambulance, where doctors are evaluating his condition.
