Protocol signed prior to key urban summit

Experts warn of surge in COVID-19 cases amid school break

Wildlife park draws visitors despite pandemic
The Ormanya Wildlife Park in the northwestern province of Kocaeli hosted 5 million visitors despite the coronavirus pandemic last year.
Kocaeli Mayor Tahir Büyükakın said that Ormanya, located in Kartepe district, opened in May 2018. With a spectacular natural habitat, Ormanya welcomes millions of visitors each year, becoming Turkey's most visited one.

Two people have been injured after being trapped under snow that fell from the roof of a hotel in Kartepe, a ski center in Turkey's northwestern province of Kocaeli.
Four people were trapped under the 1.5-meter snow pile after it fell from the roof of a building belonging to the facility of Green Park Resort Otel, while two of the tourists were injured.
Winter tourism rises in Turkey, but more investments needed
The number of winter tourists in Turkey has doubled over the last decade, increasing from 2.7 million in 2004 to 4.8 million this year, but more investments are needed to realize the country's potential in the sector, said the latest Winter Tourism report of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).
