At least 28 jihadists, 10 members of the security forces and seven civilians were killed yesterday in fighting in Tunisia near the Libyan border, the government has said.

Authorities ordered a nighttime curfew as troops deployed across the border town of Ben Guerdane to hunt for others involved in the coordinated pre-dawn attack.

Tunisia imposed a nationwide overnight curfew on Jan. 22 in response to growing unrest over unemployment as protests across the country descended into vandalism in several cities.

Tunisia's President Beji Caid Essebsi declared a nationwide state of emergency and a curfew in the capital after a bomb attack on a presidential guard bus killed at least 12 people on Nov. 24.
 

Bulgaria and Tunisia have the right tools to develop good cooperation, Bulgarian Labor Minister Ivaylo Kalfin has said.

Kalfin is on a visit to Tunisia on Friday and Saturday, where he is meeting lawmakers and ministers.

On Sunday he met Tunisian PM Habib Essid, the Labor and Social Policy Ministry of Bulgaria has said in a statement.

Twenty-two people were killed and about 17 wounded in the shooting at the Bardo national museum in Tunisia's capital on Wednesday, the Bulgarian ambassador to the North African country has said.

There are no indications of Bulgarian nationals having been killed or wounded in the attack, Ambassador Mihail Nikolovski told Nova TV station.

Tunisian police have killed two gunmen who stormed the Bardo national museum in Tunisia's capital on Wednesday, bringing to an end a three-hour hostage crisis.

Tunisia's Prime Minister Habib Essid has said at least 19 people were killed in the shooting including 17 foreign tourists, Reuters reported. A Tunisian citizen and a policeman also died in the attack, according to Essid.

At least 21 people were killed when militants attacked Tunisia's Bardo museum in the capital Tunis, Prime Minister Habib Essid said on March 18.

The death toll includes 17 foreign tourists from Poland, Italy, Germany and Spain, as well as two gunmen, a Tunisian security officer and a Tunisian cleaning woman.

Essid said two or three of the attackers remained at large.
