Police officer Muhittin Zenit, who had been in contact with a key informant in murder of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink, has said he was prevented from giving testimony in the slaying by former police intelligence chiefs Ramazan Akyürek and Ali Fuat Y?lmazer.

Officers arrested in the murder case of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink have joined the civilian suspects in blaming one-time allies or colleagues for the killing, after the inspection was recently widened.

A police chief accused of negligence in the murder of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink in 2007 was arrested after turning himself into the authorities in Ankara on Jan. 19.

Police chief Ercan Demir was arrested on charges of "voluntary manslaughter with reckless behavior."

An Istanbul court has arrested two policemen involved in the inquiry into the killing of Hrant Dink, the Turkish Armenian journalist.

The court accepted on Jan. 13 the prosecutor's demand to arrest Muhittin Zenit and Özkan Mumcu, two police officers on duty at the police department in the Black Sea province of Trabzon when Dink was killed in Istanbul.
