Lockdown of schools and universities extended to May 10

Greece's Education Ministry said Friday that it will extend the period during which schools and universities will have to remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The closure is now extended until May 10.

The decision was made on the recommendation of the expert committee advising the government on its response to Covid-19.

Ministry slams plans for new university faculties as vote-driven

Greece's Education Ministry on Thursday ordered the immediate suspension of plans to open 37 new university and technical college departments that had been announced by the previous leftist administration prior to the summer's election period, speaking of an ill-designed and opportunistic reform.
