Countdown starts for İzmir Book Fair
İZKITAP-İzmir Book Fair will be held with a festival-like organization in Kültürpark between April 19 and 28 April.
The main theme of the event, which will also host the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day events, centers around "Children's Literature" this year.

Diyarbakır Bar Association receives International Hrant Dink Award in Istanbul
The bar association in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır has received the eighth International Hrant Dink Award, presented on Sept. 22 in a ceremony held at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
IKSV makes statement on Ara Güler documentary
"The Eye of Istanbul," a film featuring the life of world-renowned Turkish journalist and photographer Ara Güler, has not been included in the program of the upcoming Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV).

Writers meet at the British Council
The British Council will organize a meeting of celebrated writers from the United Kingdom and Turkey with their readers.
The first of these meetings will bring together Hanif Kureishi, the screenwriter of the movie "My Beautiful Laundrette," which was nominated for an Oscar award, and Murathan Mungan, another venerated writer, at the Pera Museum on Feb. 18.

Literature prize to Orhan Pamuk
Turkish Nobel laureate novelist Orhan Pamuk has been named the recipient of this year's Erdal Öz Literary Prize. The prize is named after the late founder of the Can Publishing House and given to a writer who published a work in the last three years.

Hrant Dink commemorated on 8th year of murder
Mourners have marched in Istanbul to commemorate Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, on the 8th anniversary of his killing.
The march started 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 from Taksim Square and ended with a homage to Dink in front of the Armenian weekly Agos newspaper's office building in the Pangalt? neighborhood of the ?i?li district.

Festival on Wheels takes road in Turkey with movies in tow
The Festival on Wheels, organized by the Ankara Cinema Association, kicks off today in Ankara with the theme "For the Love of Cinema." Screenings in the capital will run until Dec. 4. The festival will then begin its travels, stopping in Eskişehir between Dec. 3 and 7 and heading to the Black Sea province of Sinop between Dec. 5 and 8.
