Bulgaria's Parliament Approves Energy Act Amendments concerning Energy Watchdog

Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) is renamed to Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) under amendments to the Energy Act that passed second reading in Parliament on Thursday.

Under the new provisions the members of KEVR are elected by Parliament, according to reports of Darik radio.

Bulgaria's Energy Ministry, Watchdog Mull Measures to Prevent Power Price Hike in April

Svetla Todorova, Chair of Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR), has assured that the Energy Ministry is doing its best to adopt short-term measures aimed at preventing an increase in power rates in April.

Todorova, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, informed Thursday that the measures were to be adopted by end-March.

Bulgarian Watchdog Mulls Ceiling on Prices Paid to Power Generators

Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) proposes introducing a ceiling on prices paid to power generators.

According to DKEVR, the tariff should be capped at BGN 202 per MWh, which is the highest amount paid for the balancing of the energy system.

The proposal is part of a draft decision of DKEVR.
