Tripoli arsonist in custody, placed in psychiatric care
A 29-year-old man who has allegedly confessed to starting a wildfire in a pine forest in the central Peloponnese was remanded into pretrial custody by an investigating magistrate on Thursday.

A wildfire that broke out at three different points in a pine forest in Tripoli in the central Peloponnese on Monday was showing signs of improvement on Tuesday morning, the Fire Service has reported.
Winter sports lovers head for the hills

Peloponnese town sets up barricades against imported trash
Residents of Levidi, a small town on Mount Mainalo in the northern Peloponnese, have set up blockades at the local landfill to prevent trucks from dumping trash brought from the city of Tripoli.
Locals came out in force summoned by the bells of a local church and have set up 24-hour sentries at the entrance of the landfill.
