Serbian construction permits up by 0.6 pct y-o-y in February

BELGRADE - A total 1,797 construction permits were issued in Serbia in February, which was a 0.6 pct increase relative to the same month of 2023.

According to figures released by the national statistical office RZS, 80.5 pct of the total permits were issued for buildings, while other structures made up the remaining 19.5 pct.

Brnabic: Schneider Electric a key company for digitalisation in Serbia

NOVI SAD - Schneider Electric is a key company for the entire digitalisation process in Serbia, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said at the opening of the firm's new building in Novi Sad on Friday.

Brnabic said Serbia could become a research and development hub for the world's largest companies.

Vilenica Prize goes to Otto Tolnai

The 2023 Vilenica Prize for Central European literature will go to Otto Tolnai, a Hungarian author from the Serbian province of Vojvodina. He will accept the award at the Vilenica international literary festival in September.

A poet, writer, playwright, essayist and translator, Tolnai is considered one of the most important contemporary Hungarian authors.

Thunderstorm systems over Romania are moving in a north-easterly altitudinal current towards Serbia, i.e. towards its north-eastern part.
"In the next two hours, rain and local showers with thunder are expected in the north of Vojvodina, the south of Banat, Srem and western Serbia," announced the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) in an announcement published at 4 p.m.
