Gena Rowlands, the wife and muse of director John Cassavetes, passed away on Wednesday (August 14) at the age of 94.

Rowlands died surrounded by family members at her home in Indian Wells, California, according to TMZ. A representative for her son, writer-director Nick Cassavetes, confirmed her death. She had been battling Alzheimer’s since 2019.

INDIAN WELLS - Serbian female tennis player Jelena Jankovic qualified for the Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Indian Wells, California, as she defeated Belinda Bencic of Switzerland in the match early on Wednesday, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Spain's Tomi Robredo has ousted the Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov from the Masters Series tournament in Indian Wells, US.

Robredo beat Dimitrov 4:6, 6:1, 5:7. He won the first set after the two had tied 4:4, and in the second it took him much to score a single game.

A series of mistakes clearly determined the outcome for Dimitrov in the third set.

INDIAN WELLS - World number one Novak Djokovic is through to the 4th round of the ATP Masters tournament in Indian Wells, California, after beating Spain's Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-5 6-3 in Tuesday.

His next opponent will be John Isner from the US, who defeated Kevin Anderson of South Africa 7(8)-6 6-2.
