Iranian competitive climber Elnaz Rekabi received a hero's welcome on her return to Tehran early Wednesday, after competing in South Korea without wearing a mandatory headscarf required of female athletes from the Islamic Republic.

After months of waiting for the snow to arrive, Tehranis were hit by massive snowfall overnight yesterday that shut airports and schools but delighted the ski community. The capital’s Imam Khomeini International and Mehrabad airports were shut due to poor visibility “until further notice”, state television said.
