7-Eleven owner rejects initial takeover bid from Canadian rival
The Japanese owner of 7-Eleven said Friday it had rejected a takeover bid from Canadian retail giant Alimentation Couche-Tard, saying the proposal "grossly undervalues" the company.
The proposed purchase of Seven & i Holdings would be the biggest ever foreign takeover of a Japanese firm and combine 7-Eleven, Circle K and other brands across Asia, North America and Europe.
My Market teams up with coffee chain Il Toto
Supermarket chain My Market has decided to capitalize on the great demand of the takeaway coffee market by collaborating with the Il Toto coffee chain.
The collaboration has started at the My Market Local store (this is the convenience store chain that My Market is developing with the franchising system) in the Zografou area, where there is an Il Toto store inside the supermarket.

Tourists have a few more days to snap Mount Fuji at a popular vantage point after Japanese authorities said yesterdy that the construction of a barrier has been delayed.
Fujikawaguchiko town is building the screen to deter people from taking pictures of Japan's most famous landmark from a pavement opposite a Lawson convenience store.

Four modifications to tax bill
The tax bill was passed by the plenary of the Parliament on Thursday, which means that professionals will be taxed for the year 2023 in a presumptive manner.
The minimum presumptive amount comes to 10,920 euros, which after 12 years of operation can rise to €14,196.

Thefts from UK convenience stores surge to record level
Theft from convenience stores in the U.K. reached record levels last year, according to a trade body, blaming criminal gangs and a cost-of-living crisis.
The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), which represents 48,000 stores, said there were more than 1.1 million incidents in the last 12 months.
First credits on market pass cards by March 3
Successful applicants to the government's platform to support households in buying groceries will see the first credits arrive on their so-called "market pass" cards by March 3, government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou has said.

Greece's efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus will as of Wednesday extend to the shutdown of the majority of retail stores for at least two weeks. At the same time the government is expanding by two hours daily the opening hours of supermarkets, which will also operate on Sunday, so as to reduce congestion.

Spar Hellas and Bazaar join forces
Supermarket chains Spar Hellas and Bazaar have decided to join forces, agreeing to a cooperation deal.
The agreement concerns three levels, aiming at the creation of economies of scale through synergies and the strengthening of both brands' presence, particularly in the category of convenience stores.
