Democrats Abroad Greece opens voting center Sunday

Democrats Abroad Greece will be running a voting center this Sunday to help Americans living in Athens cast their votes in the Global Presidential Primary, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at The Athens Center, 48 Archimidous, Mets.

Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party arm for the millions of Americans living outside the United States.

The Athens Center has invited author Miriam Frank to discuss her latest book, "The Experience of Exile in Ancient Times and Today," on Wednesday, September 27. The open discussion will focus on the condition of exile to demonstrate how it is guided by historical events and does not distinguish between peoples. The event, which starts at 7 p.m., is admission-free.

Australian writer Gillian Bouras, a resident of Greece since the 1980s, presents her latest book of humorous and heartfelt observations on life in the Peloponnese at the Athens Center, on Wednesday, March 22, starting at 7 p.m. In "Seeing and Believing," say the organizers, Bouras "delivers a fresh crop of joys and heartaches, to which she tries to adjust.

The Athens Center will be holding a philosophy and poetry evening on Tuesday, May 10. The event will feature New York-based poet Lee Slonimsky and Ginger F. Govt panics as farmers escalate battles with tractors at every corner

Four days ahead of strike action scheduled for Thursday, February 4, the government appears unable to appease farmers in their social security demands. The intensity of the farmers’ reaction to planned measures with road blocks around the country appear to have surprised the government with fears that the situation could create a spill-over effect of discontent to other factions.
