Andriake

During the excavations carried out in the ancient city of Andriake, the port neighborhood of the ancient city of Myra in Antalya's Demre district, interior decoration panels made with the Millefiori (thousand flowers) technique have been unearthed.

The 13th season excavations have started in Myra-Andriake, one of the six most important cities of the Lycian League located in the Demre district of the southern province of Antalya.

Professor Nevzat Çevik, the head of the excavations, stated that the Myra-Andriake excavations would continue all year round with the decision of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Two of the six flamingos that came last year to the Santa Claus Bird Sanctuary in the southern province of Antalya's Demre district to spend the winter have chosen to stay back instead of migrating.

The Lycian Civilizations Museum, opened last year in the southern province of Antalya's Demre district, has been displaying artifacts indoors and outside.  

A total of 1009 artifacts unearthed during excavations in the Lycian League cities have been drawing local and foreign tourists to the region. 

The Noel Baba (Santa Claus) Bird Sanctuary in the southern province of Antalya's Demre district is one of the leading wetlands in Turkey, providing a home to 149 bird species. 

In the southern province of Antalya, one of the most important cities of the Lycian Union, the ancient city of Andriake, has been partially opened to visits. Andriake was the harbor of another ancient city of Myra and is located in what is now the Demre district of Antalya.
