A Customs Ministry report has shown that the import and export activities of several companies belonging to controversial Iranian-Turkish businessman Reza Zarrab were suspicious and should be investigated for possible money laundering, tax evasion and foreign trade manipulations. 

A deputy from the Republican People?s Party (CHP) has filed a parliamentary question to Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi over how businessman Reza Zarrab, who was embroiled in Turkey?s huge graft probe that went public in December 2013, was awarded for the high export performance of his company, Volgam G?da.

A number of members of Turkey?s Exporters Assembly?s (T?M) top management asked Reza Zarrab, who was embroiled in the huge corruption scandal of December 2013, to not attend a recent award ceremony in order to avoid any negative comments from the public, a source close to the matter has told daily Hürriyet. 

Two leading members of the Turkish government have been poles apart regarding their attendance of a ceremony in which a controversial Iranian-Turkish businessman, involved in a huge corruption scandal that has since shaken the country, was awarded for his company's high export performance.
