Contracts signed on road projects in southern Serbia
PIROT - Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Igor Mirovic signed on Tuesday with representatives of nine municipalities in southern Serbia contracts on the allocation of funds for infrastructure projects.
The road infrastructure projects are worth RSD 637 million in total, and their realization will begin in April, Mirovic said after signing contracts in the premises of the Pirot administrative district.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) provided a half of the funds for all projects, while the other half was secured by the local self-government in whose territory projects will be realized.
Mirovic announced that in the next two months, the ministry would decide which under-developed municipalities will get the funds for priority projects.
It is the duty of the state to help reduce a discrepancy in development of regions by all available means, including financial ones, the minister said.
On Tuesday, Mirovic toured the Tigar corporation in Pirot, and talked with trade union officials about problems in their business operations, and then went to SIN-KOM, a successful private company.
