OSCE: Around 20 polling centres and branches in KiM
PRISTINA - Spokesman of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Nikola Gaon said on Friday that ten polling centres and 15 branches would be opened in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) on Sunday where citizens would be able to use their voting rights.
In a statement for Tanjug, Gaon said that the centres and branches would be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. where a total of 400 OSCE representatives would be deployed who would make it possible for citizens with the right to vote to cast their ballots.
The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) released earlier that citizens will be able to cast their ballots at 90 polling places in 20 centres as was also the case in the 2012 elections.
Four centres with seven branches will be open in northern KiM, the OSCE spokesman released.
Gaon said that OSCE has taken over the electoral materials from RIK and that after the elections, the materials would be taken to Vranje and Raska, central Serbia, for further processing.
The OSCE spokesman underscored that the organisation will not count the ballots from the Sunday parliamentary election in KiM and that the Kosovo Police Service is in charge of security.
Gaon noted that all electoral materials, including the electoral rolls, were provided by the Serbian RIK.
The electoral rolls in KiM include 107,958 voters who will be able to cast their ballots in 17 municipalities and the ballot count will be performed by electoral committees in Vranje and Raska in keeping with the agreement with OSCE which would be in charge of the transport of the electoral materials.
