"Policy of retreating sent to past"

BELGRADE -- Goran Rakić's victory in the Kosovska Mitrovica election "is an important day for Kosovo, for the community of Serbs in that territory, and for Serbia."

This is according to Marko Đurić, a presidential adviser and an official of the ruling Progressives (SNS), who spoke for B92 TV on Monday.

He added that this was also a victory of the policy implemented by his party, and that he expected the same result in Kosovo in the March 16 elections.

"This win will allow us to continue to realize our state and national goals," Đurić said.

He stated that the voting in parliamentary elections will be organized in Kosovo with the support of the OSCE, "the way it was done before," and that there would be "no change compared to 2012."

He said the SNS expected to achieve "the best possible result also in Kosovo and Metohija and to be the first and biggest party when it comes to the support of the citizens of Serbia."

"I'm very pleased that the policy of retreating and reaching agreements that are later not respected, that damaged the reputation of Serbia in the world, has been sent to the past," Đurić said.

After the victory of Rakić, also a member of the SNS, "the formation of the community of Serb municipalities (ZSO) will be immediately turned to."

According to this presidential advisor, the community will be "the pillar of our existence, and the desire of the state is that it has strong institutions."
