Japanese government helps Belgrade Culture and Sports Center
BELGRADE - Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Masafumi Kuroki and Director of the Belgrade Culture and Sports Center Sumice Ranko Matijasevic inked on Friday an agreement on a EUR 41,280 donation for the roof reconstruction and parquet repair in this institution.
I have heard that in the previous 40 years Belgraders have used this center as one of the main places for numerous sports and culture activities and that this donation will contribute to the improvement of the working conditions, Kuroki said.
I am glad that the Japanese government can help Sumice continue to play an important role in the life of Belgraders. I also hope that the center will continue to organize Japanese martial arts events and thus continue to cooperate with Japan, Kuroki said.
Matijasevic thanked for the donation, adding that “our friends from Japan can feel at home in Serbia”.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic.
The minister thanked the Japanese government, adding that this is a continuation of the good cooperation between the two countries.
The Japanese government has helped increase the capacity of culture and sports centers in Serbia in the previous years as well.
This donation included, the total amount of the Japanese assistance in the sphere of culture and sports amounts to EUR 2.5 million, while its total economic help to Serbia exceeds EUR 460 million.
