Serbia defeat Japan in water polo world championship opener
DOHA - The Serbia men's national water polo team has got off to a winning start at the world championship in Doha by defeating Japan 17-10 (4-3, 4-4, 5-1, 4-2) in Group C on Monday.
Serbia will face Montenegro on Wednesday and the United States on Friday.
Serbia sink France at European water polo championship
ZAGREB - The Serbia men's national water polo team beat France 14-10 (3-2, 3-4, 3-1, 5-3) in the round of last 16 of the European Championship in Zagreb on Wednesday evening.
Serbia will face Hungary in the quarter-finals on Friday afternoon.

Serbian officials congratulate volleyball team
Top officials have sent congratulatory messages to the national men's volleyball team for winning the bronze medal at the European Championships in Poland.
The squad beat Belgium 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12) in the match played for the third place.
In the final, Russia beat Germany 3-2.

Education and digitization, government's "main priorities"
1,407 secondary school students on Friday received plaques for the results achieved in competitions in Serbia and abroad in 2016.
On the first school day of this year, they were presented with the plaques a ceremony in Belgrade by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Minister of Youth and Sport Vanja Udovicic.

BELGRADE - The prestigious US magazine Swimming World has named Serbia's Filip Filipovic male water polo player of the year for 2016.
Serbian Olympic Committee names best athletes in 2016
The Olympic Committee of Serbia has named male water polo player Filip Filipovic and female taekwondist Tijana Bogdanovic as best Serbian athletes for 2016.
With the national team, Filipovic won the European Championship, the World League and the long-awaited Olympic gold, as well as the Champions League with his club, Italy's Pro Recco.
