Kevin Young promoter of 27th Belgrade Marathon

BELGRADE - American athlete Kevin Young, the current world record holder for the 400 m hurdles, is the official promoter of the 27th Belgrade Marathon, set to take place on April 27, the organizers announced on Thursday.

In this way, the Belgrade Marathon continues the tradition of world famous athletes promoting the race, a practice first introduced in 1993 when the then long jump world record holder Bob Beamon was a guest of Belgrade.

I am very pleased and honored to be at the Belgrade Marathon soon. I am sure that we will enjoy a top-level event and a wonderful atmosphere together. See you in Belgrade, said Young in a message from Atlanta, where he now lives.

International promoters of the Belgrade marathon over the years also included legendary track and field athletes such as Carl Lewis, Emil Zatopek, Patrik Sjoberg, Mike Powell, Gelindo Bordin, Wilson Kipketer, Rosa Mota, Sergey Bubka, Merlene Ottey and Lasse Viren.
