Markovic requests to be discharged
BELGRADE - Deputy Director of the Security Information Agency (BIA) Dragan Markovic submitted on Monday a request to be discharged from the office, BIA confirmed for Tanjug.
First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that the Serbian government will debate on Markovic's discharge after the Serbian delegation returns from Brussels, where the dialogue with Pristina resumed on Monday.
Markovic was questioned on Friday as a person of interest in the investigation against Dragoljub Peuraca, head of the Labor Inspection Directorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, related to high level corruption and bribery.
Markovic agreed to take a polygraph test, but failed on the key questions regarding Peruaca and receiving money.
He denied certain media claims on Sunday about his connection to the events that led to Peruaca's arrest and announced that he will submit a request to the director of BIA to be discharged from the office.
Markovic stated that he does not want “the presented untruths to damage the reputation of the Security Information Agency and create an impression that he is using his office of BIA Deputy Director to influence the investigation against Dragoljub Peruaca or any other investigation."
