Every one has the right to take a side or stand aside, but there are huge pressures. We are small, unimportant and bloody exchange of mighty powers, I am paraphrasing Andric.


Iva Milosevic is directing the ‘Zmajeubice’ at the Yugoslav Drama theatre. It is a new play of the famous writer Milena Markovic dealing with the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the WWI, the Young Bosnians, Gavrilo Princip…


Speaking about motifs for writing this play Milena Markovic says:


‘My personal motif is in my system of values which is in the first place anti-authoritarian and free. It is such even if it concerns the authority that formed my system of values and it is the modern world of the West. The title is from Nietzsche’s ‘Birth of Tragedy’ in which he dreams about a generation that shall change the world.


The powers of imperialism at that moment came to their end and the system in which it was increasingly better for the minority and increasingly worse for the majority had disintegrated. Of course one whole wonderful world has disappeared and a new one has appeared.

 

So the key thing is?


- The key thing is suffering of the poor young man with class, social and national awareness who feel injustice and realize they have to sacrifice themselves. At the same time some of them are so passionate about the life and are not sure to have the right.
