Magnetic resonance scheduled for 2021
People die waiting for surgery or examination Magnetic resonance scheduled for 2021
In Serbia more than 60,000 people are in various waiting lists of 44 hospitals. Surgeries are being scheduled for as late as the year of 2023.
Some of the patients have been waiting for about ten years for hip surgery, examination by magnetic resonance or heart catheterization.
At the moment patients in Serbia have to wait the longest for eye interventions, heart surgery and hip or knee surgery. Thus in the Town of Pancevo a cataract surgery is being scheduled for the year of 2017, in the Town of Cacak and Novi Sad for 2018 and at the Clinical Center of Serbia for 2016.A patient has to wait until the beginning of 2015 for magnetic resonance examination at the Oncology Institute in Sremska Kamenica and Uzice and even until 2021 at the St. Sava Hospital.
The officials of the Ministry of Health earlier said that there were indications that the waiting lists at some health institutions had been made artificially and mentioned as example cataract surgeries. However, the Republican Fund for Health Insurance (RFZO) has been since recently posting on its site daily reports regarding hip and knee surgery, magnetic resonance and scanner.
According to the data by the RFZO last week not a single hip surgery was carried out at the Clinical Center of Serbia (KCS), while the Banjica Institute carried out 26 surgeries on the patients from the waiting list. Ten people not in the list underwent surgery. At the Clinical Center of Kragujevac ten people not in the list underwent surgery and only two from the waiting list.
At the Clinical Center of Nis patients have to wait...
