Doctor Velimir Vlasic was not ashamed at all to request 2,000 Euros to operate a hip to my blind mother.

This is a story that Goran Radosavljevic (43) told the Blic. He reported to the police surgeon Velimir Vlasic (51) who was arrested on Wednesday evening for bribe taking.

- My mother Zivodarka is blind. Last Friday she fell but only the next day we suspected that her hip was broken. My sister and I called the ambulance that transported my mother to the Bezanijska Kosa Clinical-Hospital Center. Doctor Vlasic was the doctor on duty. He examined my mother and found that her hip was broken and that an artificial one should be implanted – Radosavljevic says.

The same evening he and his sister were called to come to Doctor Vlasic’s cabinet.

- He told us that there were no artificial hips and that we should see how to solve the problem. We had to inform him about our decision until next morning. It was clear to us that he expected money although he did not ask it directly. The next morning he told us that they had two hips for emergency cases and that he would take one for my mother. My mother underwent surgery on Monday and I went to visit her. She told me that Doctor Vlasic came to her and asked what her children were doing, what her relation with us was and requested from her to give him my phone number. He called me the same day.
