Early school opening protest causes minor disruption
There was only minor disruption at almost 570 secondary schools that opened ahead of schedule on Wednesday especially so pupils could make up the class hours they lost as a result of sit-in protests in the autumn.
The Federation of Secondary School Teachers (OLME) had called for its members to walk off the job for three hours on Wednesday and the rest of this week in protest at the Education Ministrys decision to hold the extra classes during the Easter holidays.
However, it is estimated that only around 10 percent of members took part in the walkout.
