MPs to appoint new Serbian government on Sunday
BELGRADE - Members of the Serbian parliament will appoint the government at a special session on Sunday when the prime minister-designate Aleksandar Vucic is due to present his expose, together measures and plans his cabinet intends to carry out in the next four years.
The special session will begin by the presentation of the prime minister-designate expose which is very detailed and covers some 70 pages, which is why Vucic's presentation will take some three hours. After this, MPs will have five hours to discuss the new government's programme and goals.
Serbian MPs adopted on Saturday the amendments to the Law on the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Law on Ministries which fulfilled the conditions necessary for the constitution of the new ministerial cabinet.
The proposition of the future prime minister concerning the new government composition arrived in the parliament early on Sunday and it envisages that the new government should have 16 ministries and 19 members, including the prime minister and two ministers without portfolio.
Leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic will assume office as the first deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and the government will have three more deputy prime ministers.
Member of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) presidency and energy minister in the outgoing government Zorana Mihajlovic will hold office as the deputy prime minister and minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.
Leader of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia Rasim Ljajic will hold office as the minister of trade, telecommunications and tourism and deputy prime minister as well. Economic expert Kori Udovicki will be the deputy prime minister...
