Kathak dance company from India visits Serbia

BELGRADE - The dance company Rujuta Soman Cultural Academy from India, which teaches an Indian classical dance called Kathak, will perform at the Kolarac Foundation in Belgrade on May 21, the Indian embassy in Belgrade has stated.

The company has six members and is led by Rujuta Soman. The visit is organized by the Indian embassy and the Cultural Cooperation Council from New Delhi and will include performances in Belgrade and other large cities in Serbia.

The visit, which will be from May 21 to 26, is meant to improve the cultural relations between India and Serbia, and it poses as a great opportunity for the Serbian public to learn about one of the most popular dances in India.

The company has so far appeared at many festivals in the world, including the Konark Dance Festival in India, the International Folk Arts Festival in China and events in Germany, the UK and France.
