Kim: Serbia politically stable, economically competitive

BELGRADE - Serbia is politically very stable country and economically competitive, Republic of Korea's Ambassador to Serbia Kim Kwang-keun said, adding that there is room for strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all areas.

Korea and Serbia are constantly developing and fostering relations. In the political sphere, we have very close ties, particularly in the world arena, the two countries cooperate and support one another in many issues, Kim told Tanjug.

There are several Korean companies operating in Serbia at the moment, Kim said, adding that only Jura with its four plants employs around 5,000 people.

There is also Samsung Electronics, which opened a regional seat in Belgrade in 2012, as it sees Serbia as the center of the region, the ambassador said.

This is an example of a successful story of direct foreign investments which, as he put it, will soon be followed by other Korean companies.

This means that Serbia is politically very stable country and economically competitive with high-quality labor force, the Korean ambassador said, and expressed hope that economic cooperation will be promoted in the forthcoming period.

I am certain that Serbia will achieve stability and prosperity, and I am particularly certain that it will be successful on the EU integration pathway under the outstanding leadership of the new government, Ambassador Kim said opening the first Korean film festival in Serbia at the Yugoslav Film Archive in Belgrade on Tuesday evening marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Serbia.
