World markets treble, stocks tank over US recession fears

Tokyo led a collapse across Asian and European equities on Monday, after weak U.S. jobs data fanned fears of a recession in the world's top economy and boosted bets on several Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index plunged 12.4 percent, or 4,451.28 points, to 31,458.42, its largest points drop in history.

South Korea Samsung union declares 'indefinite' strike

A union representing tens of thousands of workers at Samsung Electronics in South Korea said on Wednesday it would extend a three-day strike indefinitely in a bid to force management to negotiate.

35th edition of cross-continental swimming race held in Bosphorus

Istanbul has served as the venue for the 35th time for the Bosphorus cross-continental swimming event, which witnessed more than 2,600 competitors from more than 70 nations.

Organized by the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK) and sponsored by Samsung, the Bosphorus Intercontinental Swimming Race started from Kanlıca and ended at Kuruçeşme Cemil Topuzlu Park.
