Amendments to northern Mitrovica municipal statute adopted
KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Councillors of the northern Mitrovica City Assembly unanimously adopted on Thursday the amendments to the municipal statute at a closed session.
Councillor Nedzad Ugljanin told Tanjug that all 16 councillors who attended the session voted in favour of the amendments and the calling of new extraordinary elections was thus avoided.
The amendments to the municipal statute were adopted at the request of the Kosovo Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government headed by Slobodan Petrovic as the leader of the Serb Liberal Party.
The sessions to discuss the municipal statutes are held in the other three northern Kosovo municipalities, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok
The adoption of the statute is the condition for constitution of Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo-Metohija and the constitution of the community of Serb municipalities also depends on this on grounds of the Brussels agreement on the normalisation of the Belgrade-Pristina relations.
