President to appeal for help to French counterpart

BELGRADE -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić is due to meet in Paris on Thursday with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, it has been announced.

They will discuss the consequences of the catastrophic floods that hit Serbia last week, and the French assistance, according to reports.

Nikolić's cabinet announced that he would also "make an appeal for help to the French public, via the media."

The statement adds that the president's visit to France was planned to last two days, but that he decided to cut it to just five hours, "due to the circumstances that transpired."
