Grybauskaite Reelected as Lithuanian President

Dalia Grybauskaite has won the runoff in Lithuania's presidential elections and will be in office for her second 5-year term.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, Grybauskaite wins 57.87% of the votes. Her opponent Zigmantas Balcytis receives 40.14% of the votes, while 2% of the ballots were inactive, Delfi.lt reported.

The incumbent secured 74% of the votes in the second largest city, Kaunas, while the capital Vilnius proved to be a stronghold of her opponent, with 85%. Some 1.2 million Lithuanians cast their ballots on Sunday, which is 47.3% of all eligible voters.

Grybauskaite has earned popularity with her strong positions against Russia regarding the Ukraine crisis.
