Edirne clashes ‘payoff between Russian, Georgian and Azeri mafias’
The gunfight that took place in the western Turkish province of Edirne, which claimed the life of a policeman, was probably an extension of clashes between Russian, Georgian and Azeri mafias, Governor Dursun Ali Åahin has said.
Police officer Hüseyin Ä°mraÄ, 33, was shot dead when he intervened during the clashes on June 9. âAs far as the information I have received, the incident is the spread of the payoff between the Russian, Georgian and Azeri mafias to Edirne,â Åahin said.
Ä°mraÄ, who was shot in the chest, was laid to rest on June 10 after a ceremony held at the governorâs building.
Hüsne Ä°mraÄ, the policemenâs pregnant wife, was also present at the funeral.
