Kirby: Each country has its own foreign policy and interests
NIS - US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby said on Wednesday each country had its own foreign policy and interests, and that he was not in a position to decide how many friends Serbia should have.
Commenting on two simultaneous meetings, one between Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and the other between Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and his counterpart from Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, he said that every country should work to protect its interest and have as many friends as possible.
Every country should decide what makes a friend, he noted, adding that he was in no position to decide how many friends Serbia should have or what qualities they should possess.
The ambassador took part in a roundtable in Nis on Wednesday, which focused on improving the cooperation between the police and prosecutors and on the implementation of the new criminal procedure code.
