Kirby: Serbs, Americans forged lasting friendship in WWI
BELGRADE - U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby hosted a reception on Wednesday to mark the U.S. patriotic holiday Independence Day, and addressing the guests, he noted that Americans and Serbs forged a lasting friendship during World War I, stressing that Washington will continue supporting Serbia on its EU path.

Kirby said that July 4, the Independence Day in the U.S., stands for the idea of the rule of people with political and economic freedoms, respect of human rights and rule of law, adding that Serbia has been working hard in order to create a strong democracy in the country.
