Former UPS director faces up to 30 days in detention
BELGRADE - The Belgrade-based High Court ordered a detention of up to 30 days for Dragan Marjanovic, former director at the Serbian Association of Employers (UPS), suspected of causing a loss of over RSD 2 million to the association.
An investigative judge placed him in detention, citing the risk of flight and interference with the witnesses who are yet to be questioned, spokesperson for the court Dusica Ristic told Tanjug.
Marjanovic is suspected of abuse of office by a responsible person that calls for a 10-year imprisonment.
On Tuesday, police stated that Marjanovic is suspected of taking money from the association's accounts, in his capacity as the director responsible for managing the UPS assets, on a number of occasions from March to late October 2012, without entering the transactions in the books.
In that way, he unlawfully obtained RSD 1,638, 500, the statement says.
Marjanovic is also suspected of illegally transferring RSD 557,664 from the UPS account to U.K., an entrepreneur from Belgrade and owner of PV Consulting, allegedly for consulting services.
The UPS lost a total of RSD 2,196,164 because of Marjanovic's actions, police said.
