BLIC REPORTS CONFIRMED: HIGER PRICES AND DIFFICULT ENERGY SITUATION 150 Million euro for electricity imports

BELGRADE: For now Serbia has contracted 62 million Euro worth electricity imports. It will be necessary to contract the import of at least 40 million Euro more, Blic sources say. The ordered electricity hasn’t been paid yet.

For now there is no specific information on the amount of electricity that Serbia will have to import to provide enough energy for the winter period.

- Although it is too early to make estimates, it cannot be ruled out that the amount of money needed to secure energy stability during the winter period will reach 150 million Euro, Blic source says.
 

He adds that it will not only depend on the price of the imported energy, but also on the quantity of coal extracted from Kolubara pits, which are partly still under water. The later the operation of mines starts, the more energy will have to be imported.
 

Milorad Grčić, director of the mining basin RB Kolubara, told Blic that the daily delivery of coal is at the moment 50 per cent lower than before the flooding, adding that the drainage of specific basins has started.
